newfan, Megdalen Bridget Jones' Diary Review

Rikki I for one am not mad at you. I haven't seen you break any rules or do anything bad.

DeAn:) hey I didn't say I wanted to pick out curtains with you... *g*

white wings I wholly agree with you about this week's bezoar. I had the exact same thoughts myself. Which is why I've been explaining its actions to people all week.

Narrator, Monique I have to agree. I have no intention of direct engagement, but I won't allow people to be mislead either.

Adri & everyone else just to clarify, there was no incident involving Kenickie. He's never spoken to either Penlind or Cairo. I think they've got him confused with someone else, but he hasn't done anything to either of them. (I just don't want people to start getting on his case about something that didn't happen)

DELiver um, two things: Athena didn't revive Arachne, she killed the girl because her weaving skills rivalled the goddesses. Athena condemned Arachne to spin empty webs for all eternity. And Hercules was not a god, he was half human. Eventually he was brought to Olympus to join his father.

You restart the game of FFVII by pressing Start+Select+All 4 top buttons. Then you open your game, run into the Chocobo farm, and mate 2 of them. If the resulting Chocobo does not turn out green and male, you have to start all over. I've done this exact same thing over and over like about 40 times (literally) and it's a pain in the buttom side!

White Wings - I’m not a big fan of things made out of animal parts, but if it bit me, I know I wouldn’t be very high-minded. I’d probably make stew out of it.

Boo - Oh right! Good thought! I might even change the wording a little so it’s not too obvious. ;)

I just got the jist of what is
happening with Djo. I sent her an
e-mail right away but said not to

So I am still in the dark as to just
what is happening and what, if
anything we can do here? Can

He said that he made it clear to UPN right off the bat that we were vital to his sanity or something to that effect. One way or another we'll go on under the care of UPN.

St.Germain-You're -----, that I've been emailing right? Jesus, you are fantastic! I think you're the best person to come down the pike, as we say back home! Look, I'm 23. Spoilers Below

That's the whole thing, Tara did not really show any heroics, again she has fallen short. Sure she kept her mouth shut about Dawn, but that didn't last... This episode was the most tragic of Season Five I think, seeing Tara end up the way she did hurt me more than anything else, and I was one to vote her off the "island" too... I wonder why she didn't try to throw some magic at Glory... Was it proximity? lack of spells to use? the fact her hand was being crushed? Or did she fear Glory would snap her neck?

I would say that Tara and even Spike and the others believe that Glory won't kill them as long as they retained knowledge of whom the key is over her, but did they not think about her strength or ability to "Brainsuck"? It seems to me that the characters are inconsistent at points all season long, which I think is how characters (true ones anyway) are. Life is a constant barrage of change, every second we absorb new thoughts, ideas, sounds, sights, smells, ect and they change us. I can honestly say I am not the same person I was before I read your post, your thoughts and response changed me slightly, if even it is minute enough that no one would notice, we ever change. Tara seems to have "dismissed" her attraction with the ways of Magic(k), all season long she has ruined spells, and preached about the dangers of certain types of magic(k). Yes when it served her needs to use magic to protect herself she did not hessitate. Is (uh I mean "WAS")Tara only capable of acting for the sake of self preservation? Even the teleportation spell Willow and Tara did in (Bloodties, was it? i have forgotten now) seemed to be Willow mostly. Tara threw the "Magic sand" and mumbled the words, but the power came from Willow it seemed. Now Tara is essentially useless it seems, worse, she has betrayed the Scoobies! And I can do nothing but feel pitty and sorrow for her. I must be insane...

Hi Bronzers. I'm Tom and I work for Doc/Penlind. She just went out the door to head back to the clinic and she wanted me to tell you how touched she was over the times of silence today and all of your thoughts, wishes and work that have sustained her and her family during this time. She says that you leave her breathless with your compassion and support. I agree. St. Germain will have a note from Doc about this in the next day, but Doc loved DeLiver's quiz, and jotted down another one for you as she left. She asked if I would type it. Doc says it should keep you busy for a bit, but to make it fair, she has spread it out over a few more areas.

Doc's Quiz

1. Gyoll is...?

2. Iphis loved...?

3. Where was the Omphalos?

4. Who was Mnevis?

5. Who was the Norn of the Present?

6. What is Scio and why is it important?

7. What was Kedalion's specialty?

8. Who was the Egyptian frog god?

9. Who was Thaukt, and what was her task?

10. Name the three gorgon sisters.

Bonus-What was the name of the Queen of the Amazons who was slain during the Trojan War?

Doc says that she can't thank you enough and that she knows that you were the force that changed the tide for Djoser. She just hopes you all know it too.

Yeah, somehow I don't think Glory would have played fair, although she would have had a decent head start had Tara spilled the beans. Kinda wonder how I would hold up to the pressure of having my fingers juiced like that. Not sure I'd be so heroic.

Update on Djop - this just in from Penlind:

After everything that you have been doing and have had to put up with, you should be asleep. I told Tom last night (Must be your tonight) that he should give you and evening off to just relax, but he tells me that you are still there holding down the fort! I grabbed the children and brought them back home for the night. Djo is stable and resting comfortably. We think we will be able to bring him home tomorrow. That seems fast, but Roan will be staying with us and my mother's original degree was as a BSN. I just think that he needs to be home with all of us, with the noise, and the tombstones piled in the corner, and Keats trying to eat his blanket. Home would be his best medicine. I miss rocking him late at night and discussing myths with the Bronzers while everyone else sleeps.

Tom read me your note about an address to send cards and such. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and help these past days. Your prayers have worked a miracle with Djo, and has seen me through the darkest days I have ever known. I have been very fortunate in my life, and the Bronze with all of you wonderful souls is just one more example. What a special place and what fantastic people. Thank you all so very much. I am going to ask one more favor, if you don't mind. Quakers don't commemorate days of holiday, happiness, or sorrow. We understand that the Lord's will is not of our choosing, and that all we can do is trust that every day he makes in his eye and not ours. Nothing would make Djo or I happier than if you went out and instead of buying us a card, do something for yourselves instead. That would mean so much to us. I will tell him in just a few hours now how all of his friends at the Bronze prayed and thought of him and by their strength, brought him through a dark hour. He will smile, and he will know, and he will understand what each of you has done. I can never repay any of you for what you have given myself and my children, but thank you a thousand times and a thousand more. I promise to make sure Cai is able to come back soon, and me too if Djo is released in the next few days.

I know that you are having fabulous conversations without me, and I am very jealous. How wonderful to have a place like the Bronze, which is of course a post-modern Agora, to voice opinions in a wise and rational way. As long as we have a site where reasonable conversation is allowed and respected, we are living the American dream. I love to challenge my students to quote the first amendment to me. Just one line, tell me what it says? More often than not, they can't. They were taught to throw it in the air at the drop of a hat, sight unseen, and let it fall softly about their shoulders, wrapping them in an excuse for obnoxious behavior, but they can't tell me what it says. Look it up, use it wisely, understand it's limitations before you hide behind it. Rudeness is not freedom of speech. It is a reason not to be invited to intelligent gatherings. Use your inclusion wisely. Do not spit on the host over ****tails. Polite society frowns on it, and you will find yourself alone at home watching Jeopardy. By the way, for the young ones...It does not even apply to you until you turn 18. Harsh thought, isn't it? The Bronze is a society, and society, following the root of the word, reflects byconcensus, it's members. The Bronze will not tolerate improper behavior, nor should it. We must each hoe our own garden, so let's behave, and discuss, and have fun with our
favorite show!

Actually, I was pointing towards Dawn asking Buffy to give her some pointers on how to slay vampires. If she's not the Key anymore, Dawn will wonder what she WILL become...assuming she'll survive at the end of the episode. If she does, why not have her do Slaying lessons? Buffy will decide to give her hard lessons to dissuade her...except Dawn gets really good on her own. This would upset the "Chosen One rule", but it leads to some unexpected back-up.
As for the theory of Dawn and Buffy switching bodies, and Buffy's body dies, that would really be an absurd way to end the season. First of all, you'd start season six with "Dawn, the Vampire Slayer", which is not what UPN bought. Cloning a new Buffy body to bring her back thorugh another spirit switch would be too complex to be plausible. Besides, it would be a case of repating a past plot line.
However it ends, it's got to be something that's never been done before, and my proposal might fit the bill. Dawn was the Key for a reason, so I think she'd do something to save the day. I just wish that if she DID have powers, we saw them a lot sooner.
Then we'd understand why everyone wants her.
So......I vote "no" on a spirit switch/cloning to resurrect Buffy because it's too complex and far-fetched..and it's been done before. But I vote "yes" for Dawn having dormant Slayer powers that will be "waking up" soon.

I don't know if you noticed this or not, but there was an interesting contrast between the Willow/Tara/Dawn interaction while they were discussing resurrection spells in "Forever" and what we saw at the end of "Tough Love". In the earlier episode, Tara took on the role of concerned parent as she warned Dawn (and Willow as well) about the dangers of tampering with things beyond their control. Now she's an emotional invalid being spoon-fed by both of them as though she were a child. I think that whole power struggle going on between Willow and Tara as well as between Buffy and Dawn and how they intermingled was handled very well, but it's a shame that Tara has to suffer as a result of it. As somebody else pointed out, Tara sacrificed her sanity to protect Dawn which led her to reveal the identity of the key anyway. Such bitter irony.

I fail to understand how Dawn would gain Buffys' powers... I have a theory that Dawn and Buffy will switch bodies and Buffy will end up dying in Dawns' form, but in Season Six will make her way through "some means" to trade back and set everything back to normal, also eliminating the dangers of the Key, since Dawns' body would be "destroyed" and a new one would have to be "made". What is it exactly that makes you think Dawn will "inherit" Buffys' powers (if she dies, I assume)

DELiver, o.k. my five minutes...wait...here they are!

Q01. Who is the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill?
Olympia Dukakis...but don't tell Athena!

Q02. How was Athena "born"?
There was this bird, see, and this randy little bee and...oh, wait. She gave her Daddy, Zeus, a
headache before she ever showed up. Like all fathers have wanted to do at some point, he hit
himself in the head with an axe to make the pain stop. She stepped out of his cranium, fully
formed. After seeing her form, he went out and bought a gun to sit on his front porch with...

Q03. Arachne was a weaver of beautiful tapestries. She committed suicide and was brought
back to life by Athena as a?
Republican. No wait, spider. Oh, yeah, I already SAID Republican...(sorry, I really need to leave
politics out of this...)

Q04. Where is the home of the Greek Gods?
That little gyro place down on 63rd...they call it Mt. Olympus.

Q05. Who was Cerberus?
My brother-in-law...the three headed dog, guardian of the gates of hell or the river Styx or some
smelly place nobody wants to go to anyway

Q06. According to Greek legend, who was the first woman on earth?
The one who looked around, stamped her foot and said, "O.k., but I'm NOT cleaning up THIS
mess by myself, let me tell YOU! And she had a really nifty box to keep her jewelry in. Her name was Pandora.

Q07. Ambrosia is what?
A really vain Valley Girl, or a honey-mead drink enjoyed by the gods.

Q08. Which Roman god is the equivalent to the Greek god Zeus?
You realize you're starting THAT old argument again...now, Zeus, Jupiter, settle down boys! He didn't mean
EQUAL exactly...oh, Lord, there they go again!

Q09. Who had a face that "launched a thousand ships?"
Hey! My zits cleared up! They don't smash me against bulkheads no more! Oh! You meant Helen of Troy!

Q10. Who was the Greek goddess of love?
Olympia Dukakis...no, wait, never mind. Some Aphrodite person...

Q11. The god of love?
O.k., NOW you're setting off the James Marsters vs. David Boreanez set! That's just mean.
Can't you just TELL them it's Eros and be done with it?

Q12. The goddess of revenge?
Cordelia Chase, who else? Well, maybe Nemesis. As played by Helen Hayes...

Q13. God of strength?
Ban Roll-On, no wait..that Atlast guy from all the cheesy commericals....

Q14. The Roman goddess of dark/magic is Trivia (yes?) who is the Greek?
You mean that swarthy little guy over in the corner? He's just the fry cook! (Makes a mean baklava, though...). His sister Hecate is a real so-and-so herself, though (but she makes lousy baklava!)

Q15. God of the underworld?
Joss Whedon. Or Hades. Or Pluto. Depending on your pantheon or your mood.

Q16. God of the sea?
Charlie Tuna...or Posidion

Q17. Who were Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos better known as?
The Three Stooges...no, wait, the Three Musketeers...no wait, the Marx Brothers...no, wait. The
Furies. No wait! They were the Fates (though they WERE a little furious about being compared to the Marx Brothers AND the Stooges!)

Q18. Who was the person who was punished to forever push a boulder up a mountain?
According to my boss, it's me. According to the legend, it's Sysyphus (sp?)

Well, if the rumors be true Buffy will be less than herself for a while next season. If her Slayer powers are temporarily AWOL well....Dawn is a vessel of sorts. If her body can retain the energy that is the key, why not Slayer powers? How does that paraphrase of the Psalms go? "Yay though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I will fear no Evil. For I am the badest m(explective deleted)r in the valley." As the Key, even after Glory is dealt with, Dawn will be an object of power that many will want to possess. Having super powers will help her make the point that she's not there to be possessed. By anyone.

I thought I would post this poem by Vachel Lindsey. It is my Goddaughter Gabrielles favorite, she laughs out loud when I say it to her, making little hand gestures with her tiny hands. Maybe it will make Djo smile when he hears it.

There was a little turtle.
He lived in a box.
He swam in a puddle.
He climbed on the rocks.

He snapped at a mosquito.
He snapped at a flea.
He snapped at a minnow.
And he snapped at me.

He caught the mosquito.
He caught the flea.
He caught the minnow.
But her didn't catch me.

Sweet dreams...our hearts are giving yours strength. *hugs*

the only problem I have with Angel is that his help isn't as appareciated as it should be, thanks to his Darlamania. The other cast members are great, and I wonder if one will really leave soon, and REALLY cause changes around that show.
I just think that Angel is expected by the rest of the group to do something major before he is recognized as the leader he wants to be. Something equal to what happened to Wesley in "Thin Dead Line". He's got to remind us of what he's supposed to be. and...

Oh, and as for who will be sacrificed on Buffy's 100th show...Buffy will sacrifice herself, because she knows that a Slayer's job is to die to prevent apocalypses. So, she sacrifices herself, and we weep for six months before Joss figures out some way to make Buffy not dead.
OR, he can figure out a way much sooner, like Dawn sacrifices herself to save Buffy. That seems to be more likely...or should.

I too could go one forever about the virtures of Aly and Amber.
The ep really did serve to solidify their relationship. As worried as I am about both of them, it made me feel like maybe they’ve got a decent shout at making me through. We’ve seen the power of love in the Buffyverse, and seeing them like that – Willow’s dedication to Tara, the trust in Tara’s eyes – made me feel like maybe it will work for them too.
Yup…I’m getting the warm and fuzzies all over again (though, w/o the blanket this time *g*)

Sigh. As if my recent conversation with Penlind wouldn't send me scurrying for my Bullfinch, this quiz delivered the coup de grace. I am an IDIOT. I missed Jove! And I KNEW Jove. And they're the Fates, not the Furies (strange, f-people come in troikas, and for some reason, I thought there were five fates, not three) And I totally forgot poor Pandora, who at least got left with a nifty box for all her jewelry. And Atlas, foil for so many bad ad campaigns. And...oh, forget it.

Q02. How was Athena "born"?
There was this bird, see, and this randy little bee and...oh, wait. She gave her Daddy, Zeus, a headache before she ever showed up. After seeing her form, he went out and bought a gun to sit on his front porch with...

That had to be the most meaningfull thing I have ever done. I sat in my room, with candles lit and in the dark I prayed. I felt goosebumps all over. I know, that our prayers will be answered. I can almost feel it.

THANK YOU TO EVERY BRONZER This was something that I will never forget! See what can be accomplished by us. No one! Not one person, in the entire world not in the USA, or Canada, not in the UK or in Ireland (et all) posted on this board for 5 minutes...think about that. Think about what we accomplished when we all work together. *love you*

Penlind, Cairo & family I hope you felt us there with you, for we were. We are forever there to watch and guide. All my love, and best wishes. *hugs*

Just a reminder, folks… Djoser's got a bumpy road ahead of him no matter what; this is something we don't need a formal meeting to do so let's make a private promise to ourselves to keep Djoser in our hearts like this whenever we can...

Bezoar — this is not a nite for anger so I'm going to give you the benefit of good intentions... the next lesson you need to learn is that it isn't a question of superficials, of candles or bronze flames or wicker men... if you can take the energy of the gesture and turn it towards your own life you will have made some honest progress. It's your call.

IT'S TIME - FOR THE "MOMENT OF SILENCE" REQUESTED FROM
FRIENDS OF BRONZERS PENLIND & CAIRO

In the manner of Friends (Quakers), some of us would
like to hold a moment of silence to pray for
Penlind, Cairo, Djoser, and their family. As
many of us are aware, Djoser, who is
Penlind's son and Cairo's brother, is
quite ill with a heart problem.

A Quaker "moment of silence" entails sitting quietly
and thinking about the person in need. You can pray to
any God that you wish, or send mental healing vibes,
or reflect on your own family... whatever feels right
to you. Quakers say that they are "holding someone in
the Light" during that time, which means to keep good
and hopeful thoughts within your heart.

ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN IN THIS MOMENT!

You do not have to have to be at the Bronze at that
time, though if you are - please do not post.

I will post when the 5 minute period of quiet reflection is up.

Peace

Bezoar — I'm going to respond on this topic just once. Whatever you do with it is up to you.

There are people on this board who are dealing with things that are imposed on them, physical realities, people like Ajo and Djoser. There are people on this board who deal with less visible problems as well, such as depression, and not of the 'o I hate my life poor me type' but the type where they sit there with the gun or the pills and try to think of a reason not to do it. We give them our uncritical support because they are facing their problems with everything they have.

Then there are the people who don't seem to try, and then expect us to deal with their messes.

I don't know which bezoar you are and I don't care. If you can put make the effort to write something like you just did, you should have the self-awareness to realize that you have the ultimate and sole responsibility for your actions and the resolution of your feelings. If you are genuinely in that kind of pain, then it is up to you to face it, to seek help, to attempt therapy. Get it through your family, if you can, get it through your school or your church or a community organization if you have to. But until you do, until you're willing to confront yourself and not the nasty Other being so bad to you, all the poetry and cries for pity are just so much glib gameplaying and masturbation. You have to address your pain. You can't expect us to do it for you. We can support people who are confronting their own problems here. That is all we can do and we as a group are willing and even proud to do it. But if you're not, you can't expect us to do it for you, or to tolerate your activities while you flail about ignoring your own problems.

Here endeth the sermon. We return you now to your regularly scheduled Bronze...

Reyna says:
(Fri May 4 20:43:06 2001 216.191.161.63)
Today we’ve been holding thoughts and prayers in our hearts for Djoser, Penlind and their family. Djoser is a little guy who had a very rough start in life until Penlind and her husband found him and gave him the greatest gift anyone could give a child –they became his parents, Penlind became his mother, and he is truly and completely loved. But that love has extended far beyond their family.

When I look at all the postings for Djoser from Bronzers who’ve cared so much over the past few weeks, I’ve been tremendously touched to realize how many terrific people there are in this community and how much love and compassion you all hold.

One small boy in a frail body has the power to affect a great many of us, and in turn, we have the power to affect the many people we come in contact with.

Hamlet: Sorry I didn't include you earlier. Hi!! Nice to meet you. I think that the definition of Perfect Happiness is not just, how you charmingly put it, "boinking," or as i prefer, making love. I think that perfect happiness is defined by one moment of when Angel is not thinking of his soul. When he doesn't care about it and is just happy about something that he loves. But that's just me.
Thoin: Hey!! I totally agree. We missed each other last night. I haven't seen Irene eithor. I totally miss her. Cairo posted this about her brother:
Mum says the only thing that lasts forever is words like the things that we say and write. Everything else just goes away. I just want someone to remember Djoser. His faverite story is Winnie the Pooh and his faverite song is How much is that doggie n the window. He sucks his thumb but he's trying not to and shen he wakes us in the morning his hair sticks up in the air. He is black like me. He likes it when I take a piece of paper and I move it over his face really light. eh smiles when the sun shines and when I'm being Buffy and I stake somebody. He likes it when you rock him and when he can have peaches. His faverite toy is my old grey elephant. He thinks he looks just like Da when he walks around with his hands in his pockets adn when he doesnt have pockets he pretends. He hates it when he is blue and can't breathe right adn if he could get enough air he would cry when it happens. He likes to sleep next to Poe because she is so big adn soft. He laughs when you give him a bath. He'll always be my brother even if he can't be a vampire but it would have nice if he could. and I lvoe him. There now Djoser will live forever,

Responses from Bronzers:
From newfan:
I don't know either - but I do know this: Djoser was born with a
heart that doesn't work right. We don't know why he was born that way - if it was God's Plan or bad luck or what, but that's what happened. But one miracle has already happened. Djoser found your very wonderful and warm and loving family...and he has lots of love now to help ease his suffering. He would be suffering more if he didn't have you guys and your mum and da, right? So be happy that he is surrounded by love. And be happy that you have him for a brother, because love and family are precious gifts that not everyone has . I am a Quaker like your mum, and I am holding Djo in the Light. Do you know what that means? We believe that there is that of God, a light, within us all. And to hold someone there is to pray for them. Your smart mum can probably explain it better.

From DeMoriel:

Cairo: Life doesn't make sense a lot of times. It's bigger than all of us.. and for that reason, a lot of things don't make sense when they seem to be wrong. We just gotta trust that there's someone out there taking care of us, even when things are just terrible. I guess I look at it this way... One moment of knowing that you're loved, (and I mean KNOWING that you're truly loved) is worth more than years and years of life where you might not know anything but sorrow and pain.
Your family is very special and what ever might happen, I'm sure you guys will pull through. Be strong.

imdb.com spoilers - I've had pretty good luck with the database personally. Certainly at times there have been some errors but in my experience I've found it very useful. I generally just take whatever it says with the proverbial grain of salt. And i'm just crossing my fingers that it's right this time. At least in one particular instance anyway.

Old One
Sure...sure. I believe you. I think I'm gonna have to keep an eye on you and my twin from now on. You know she's spoken for, right? By a big green horny demon? *g*

Well, you know me and my big mouth. It's been getting me into sooo much trouble recently!

Newfan, I was with you this morning (I hid out in the restroom, so my boss wouldn't ask why I was just sitting, doing nothing) and I intend to be with you this evening. And yes, Cairo's story is VERY cool! I'm so happy she's doing this. I think we're creating a brand new writer here! Are we cool or what?

Slave2Faith, how excellent! One of my Fifths is your namesake! Gonna give her a little French Maid's outfit for her very own some day? I think she'd like that. She just twinkled and giggled when you smiled at her. She likes you! She has class.

W-SKy...cautious TACKLHUGS here (so as not to reinjure the finger)! Yay you! You're here!

Slayerdaddy, nope, none of those. There's a shiny nickel in it for you if you guess HOW I could cut my finger while washing a cup that didn't break, crack or have any sharp edges (no, there were no spoons or cutlery of any kind involved. It was my hand and the cup and...what I cut my finger on. And that's all.)

I did not think it was the most tremendous ever, but I love anything with the Host, and the scenes with Gunn and Wesley were terrific. And Angel is anything BUT a nuisance, but I will certainly agree with "heroic."

A MOMENT OF SILENCE REQUESTED FROM
FRIENDS OF BRONZERS PENLIND & CAIRO
Friday, May 4, 2001
We had a beautiful moment at 09:00
and will have one more at 21:00 - 30 MINUTES FROM NOW

In the manner of Friends (Quakers), some of us would
like to hold a moment of silence to pray for
Penlind, Cairo, Djoser, and their family. As
many of us are aware, Djoser, who is
Penlind's son and Cairo's brother, is
quite ill with a heart problem.

Penlind's teaching assistant (who calls
her "Doc") has been forwarding her e-mails to
StGermain, who has been kind enough to share
them with the Bronze:

[Penlind] . called a minute ago and asked if
I would email you and update on Djoser. He failed to
qualify for the replacement surgery and there were
complications during the examination.
.
Ebstein's A. was confirmed tricuspid valve damaged.
During tests Djo's heart arrested twice, but was
revived. Despite antibiotics, he is running a fever
and so he's in the hospital. Could be endocarditis. ..
Doc asks that everybody just pray. Typical Doc.

Last night we had word that Djoser's fever was down, and today Cairo posted this:

his presure went way
up this morning adn then the
thing went pop and now he's
really ok. They said his foot is
curled up but that it mit not be
perminent. They said it was a
good thing cause no w the
pressure is down after it. And I
tlaked to him on the phone
adn he said "elephant" lik he
always does. And he was
singing so its ok. The man
from Amercia whos been
taking care of him says that
his blood is flowing the right
way now and they are going to
do new tests and maybe he
can have a heart. I think thats
funny cause it makes Djoser
sound like the tinman in the
Wizare of Oz.

We will have two moments of silence today, Friday,
May 4, 2001.

The first moment of silence was already held at 09:00 (board
time) 9:00 am Pacific time; 11:00 am Central;
12:00 noon Eastern; 5:00 pm UK time

The second moment of silence will be at 21:00 (board
time) 9:00 pm Pacific time; 11:00 pm Central;
12:00 midnight Eastern, 5:00 am UK time
30 MINUTES FROM NOW

Each moment of silence will last 5 minutes.

Thank you.*

*The moment of silence is not mandatory. We
are simply assisting those who want to participate in
sending a surge of prayers and good wishes to our
fellow Bronzers and their family.

White Wings, no, didn't pick up any Cadbury's...it wouldn't still be around would it? And, as I said, I got ALL of the Friday posts. I went through every board and gathered Cairo's posts and what people posted TO her (including that sweet post about the Velveteen Rabbit and some others that made me cry all over again just reading them). I've got 17 pages worth of copied posts. Just in case.

Mia, your Fifths are fine. They're all over at the new Fifth-cottage, which finally has a roof (though the interior isn't quite finished. It's good painting weather tonight, so niece Norns set out some patio lights and the pup tent and the little Fifths are having a painting party. Don't ask. They wanted to paint the outside of the cottage before the interior is even finished. It's harmless and will only have to be redone once, I think, so I'm letting them do it. I misses my Mia too...

Bezoar says:
(Fri May 4 20:27:48 2001 24.184.91.146)
What can I say...?
What would you all hear?
Why would I want to waste anymore tears?
You push me away then tell me to stay
I see cold locked eyes that burn me
I see words that slice into my inner being
I have thoughts and ideas that I know I shouldn't say
Something forces me to throw them your way
So again I ask
What should I say?

Would it be enough to show you all I bleed?
Do I stay strong and pretend I don't need?
I feel lost in a vast desert
Broken from the inferno of the frosty winds
Hunched over in exhaustion with nothing to win
Cold eyes growing colder
Closing
They say
Why should we give you a chance to live in our way
Perhaps I am broken
A loner of fates
A lost and helpless child with only his mistakes
No chance of redemption
No hope to be fixed
No one even tries until he has long since quit
Brow beat him with your anger
Make him feel small
The leverage gained giving you a peak view of it all
Just another spiral heading its way down
Just another bezoar laid beneath the ground
The coldness overwhelms me
Reaching out for light
Surrounded in darkness
A victim to the smite

So tread all over his broken parts
Makes you feel whole
Just lacking in heart
Just a weary anger that has roamed across the land
Just a shade of saddness
Nothing like a man
Dust on the wind
Sand in the sand
Take no recognition of his hand
It holds no relevence
It can't understand
Reaching out to comfort
Reaching out to care
Slapped away and scorned
It is forced to leave not share.

Narrator: My last post on the topic, but I think this is the post that caused some people to give him a second chance.

From St. Germain's post 15:18:29 on Thursday:

I told Riley about the argument last night on the Board and she asked him to ask me to ask you to help Geo and Sephiroth if it's possible. Ya know, I was here the other night when the Kenix thing happened about Cai being fake and Doc said "I think you and I might have to take a break from the board for a while." Cai put her hand on her forehead and wailed "Mom, I can't...I need the board." Doc pulled her on her lap and said "No, Cai. Think of all the family and friends that you have. And you can email your board friends anytime. And look around this room that's full of people who adore you. Now think of those people who have no one. They are so lonely that they cry in the night, and come to the Buffy board just to be yelled at and called "stupid". To them, that word is as close as they can get to 'I love you'. They are the ones who need the board. It's their only family." That's why we love Doc. She says thanks for the prayers and Riley said that she cried when she heard. He was going to try and get her to eat something the last I heard. Anyway, Doc says please help the lost ones on the board if you can.

Lizza Slayer, he's not only a fine actor, but J. August Richards is a stone-cold hottie! With one of the sweetest smiles that ever graced a human face. And he gives good hug, too! And THIS is from a dyed-in-the-wool ASH admirer who'd crawl nekkid across hot coals for Pierce Brosnan. So there!

Thoin cuddles her new little Fifth and then looks it over...

Well, I'm not ready to dispense mercy to EVERYONE around here, but I'm thinking I'm gonna name you little Caritas. You can be Little Carrie for short, though...The little Fifth gives a happy wiggle and snuggles down in Thoin's arms to watch the Friday night frolics continue...

wolfgard Okay, I'm not trying to be obtuse. I did understand part one of the exercise from your original post last night. I believe I left Willow, Anya and Spike on the plane. So that would leave me 1/4 odds that the plane lands, because I insisted Giles take a 'chute.

Now, for the second part, tonight you wrote:

If you chose to keep Giles, the pilot, then the odds of landing safely were three in four. If you chose to give Giles a chute, then the odds of landing safely are one in four.

Pick a number between 1 and 12. I chose that range to have four sets of four numbers. At first, thought to use 3, 6, 9 and 12 as the unlucky numbers, but thought someone might focus on them as being divisible by three. So changed the unlucky numbers to 2, 5, 8 and 11.

If you chose to leave Giles on the plane, then they landed safely. :)
.

As I've said, Giles is off the plane, and I've rolled a "7". So I'm still not clear, did they make it, or were they doomed? Sorry to be so dense, my kids pull a "Glory" on me everyday.

white wings As someone's already mentioned, Penlind made a few pleas last night/this morning on behalf of Sephorith (sp? and I have no clue of his story so I won't address it) and Geo. I think in part, that is what accounts for my flexible frame of mind tonight. I know what you mean about Geo's attitude. I can neither explain it or excuse it. I do know though, that after we had a few blow-ups with him at the threaded, he went away for a while, came back and has been good so far as I've seen, since. I stayed away from him at the threaded for a while just to make sure. But if he's caused any more trouble there, I'm not aware of it. A month or two ago, there was a problem of another kind at the threaded. Some people got really heated (it did not involve Geo). A good friend of mine there pointed out to me in an e-mail, that she thinks it's silly when people who don't even know each other, get so furious at one another. I was only on the outskirts of the heated incident, but it got me to thinking. Now I just play a game with myself at both boards. When I'm annoyed at activity at the board, (unless it involves people with whom I've established a real connection) I just view them as characters in my interactive diary. When they really get on my nerves, I write them off my "show". I did notice last night he was dying from cancer, while today he is in withdrawal from an addiction. Somebody here has in their siggy a Joss quote, something like, "trust the tale, not the teller". That's what I'm doing here. Geo may or may not be telling the truth about either of those things, but since I have no way of knowing, I can decide to believe him or decide not to. Since honestly, (and this perhaps sounds too blunt but..) it really doesn't have anything to do with my life, I'd rather be suckered in and believe a lie, than disbelieve someone who really was in those circumstances. I myself am a "voice, crying in the wilderness" or maybe that's John the Baptist, urgh, I always get us confused. Anyhow, to sum it up, since it doesn't really matter in the great scheme of things, I find it easier to be forgiving than to be angry. I think someone else said that in about 5 words, a few posts back, where I've just used about 500.

On my bi-boardal coming out - I've lurked here forever (or maybe for a year) so I'm at an advantage here as so many of you are so familiar to me. You're right about Bronzers sticking together though. It's important right now while we are unsure of our fate. Also, it's really a beautiful thing when it happens. I don't know where you are, but if time permits, think about participating in the moment of silence for Djoser, Penlind, Cairo and family. I did this morning, and the feeling has stayed with me all day. Thanks for your kind words by the way. And just so you don't think that I think I am an angel, there are plenty of people at the threaded board to whom I wouldn't give the time of day. We have our share of bezoars too. In fact, the really bad ones are part of what has drawn me here lately. It's been spam central over there lately. I mean 40, 80, 120 posts at a time.
Maybe we can get Joss to kill them off in the season finale. ;)

Lizza Slayer I think I'm all worded out right now so no speculation for me, but yeah, David's smile is knee-weakening.

Oh, the mouse. Drat. You just HAD to ask, didn't you? OK, in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (also mentioned in Restless), mice nibbled at the ropes holding the dead Aslan to the altar. That was how they became talking mice, and heroes like Reepicheep. Well mice look like little rats. Amyrat (whom Willow suspects has been made smarter by one of her failed spells) is going to nibble at something and save someone and be rewarded (by a power or powers unknown) by being made human? I don't see how that relates back to Joyce's knees, but we can't have everything, can we? I don't quite understand the Mah Jong and lemonade, either.

First Wolfguard: I don't think that David B. is anything like his character. He's said it, his castmates said it, and from what I've seen, they're all right: Angel and David are completely different. Well, I personally think that they've both have a thing for blondes, but that's just me. Now I do think that David is cool and cute and everything but come on. The guy is thirty. I may be a teenager but not delusional. I know that he would never fall in love with me. We could be friends but not a couple. Besides, I've got my eye on the Hottie from english I mentioned a couple of nights ago, *g*. My theory? David's a smart, funny, well-read, actor. Not a broody, two-hundred-forty-something vampire with a soul. And my type is not the dark broody type. I like my guys to laugh with me and wear some other color than black. What else did you think of that eppy? Now, David Mello: This eppy wasn't that bad. It was nice to see that The Host had a past. I can't get enough of that guy. I thought that the scenes with Gunn where just...amazing. I was waiting for another reunion with his old friends. J. August (I hope that that's his name. It's the guy who plays Gunn.)is really developing as an actor and really bringing something special to the show. Disagree with me as much as you want. Other than that, I totally agree with you, but "heroic nuisance" is not the term I would use for Angel. Try something else.

Re: imdb.com spoilers -- It is true that imdb is often wrong, but sometimes they do call it correctly. For instance, they had Marc Blucas listed as departing from BTVS a month or more before he actually did so. In other words -- those spoilers shouldn't be given 100% credence, but they shouldn't be dismissed out of hand, either.

Megdelen, thanks, I'll try, but I just put a fresh bandage on it so it's not as bad right at this moment. Please ignore any horrible typos, though (like not bolding Cairo's name or Penlind's, and not putting the dashes in gingerale-and-lime...how unlike me. I'm usually so anal about things like that.

Algerina, sislet! Hi! {{{huggles}}}

Slayerdaddy, thanks for the drink. I take it you got my e this morning? As for my finger, I sliced it open while cleaning a coffee cup. It's right on the fleshy tip of the middle finger of my right hand. Owie. And don't ask HOW I sliced it, 'cause THAT'S too embarassing to relate (it had nothing to do with any broken anything...sigh...).

Arielle, Well imdb.com is not the most credible for news before it happens. No idea who puts that site together, but they incorrectly claim Sarah Michelle Gellar has a middle name "Anne".

A MOMENT OF SILENCE REQUESTED FROM
FRIENDS OF BRONZERS PENLIND & CAIRO
Friday, May 4, 2001
We had a beautiful moment at 09:00
and will have one more at 21:00...ONE HOUR FROM NOW

In the manner of Friends (Quakers), some of us would
like to hold a moment of silence to pray for
Penlind, Cairo, Djoser, and their family. As
many of us are aware, Djoser, who is
Penlind's son and Cairo's brother, is
quite ill with a heart problem.

Penlind's teaching assistant (who calls
her "Doc") has been forwarding her e-mails to
StGermain, who has been kind enough to share
them with the Bronze:

[Penlind] . called a minute ago and asked if
I would email you and update on Djoser. He failed to
qualify for the replacement surgery and there were
complications during the examination.
.
Ebstein's A. was confirmed tricuspid valve damaged.
During tests Djo's heart arrested twice, but was
revived. Despite antibiotics, he is running a fever
and so he's in the hospital. Could be endocarditis. ..
Doc asks that everybody just pray. Typical Doc.

Last night we had word that Djoser's fever was down, and today Cairo posted this:

his presure went way
up this morning adn then the
thing went pop and now he's
really ok. They said his foot is
curled up but that it mit not be
perminent. They said it was a
good thing cause no w the
pressure is down after it. And I
tlaked to him on the phone
adn he said "elephant" lik he
always does. And he was
singing so its ok. The man
from Amercia whos been
taking care of him says that
his blood is flowing the right
way now and they are going to
do new tests and maybe he
can have a heart. I think thats
funny cause it makes Djoser
sound like the tinman in the
Wizare of Oz.

We will have two moments of silence today, Friday,
May 4, 2001.

The first moment of silence was already held at 09:00 (board
time) 9:00 am Pacific time; 11:00 am Central;
12:00 noon Eastern; 5:00 pm UK time

The second moment of silence will be at 21:00 (board
time) 9:00 pm Pacific time; 11:00 pm Central;
12:00 midnight Eastern, 5:00 am UK time
One hour from now!

Each moment of silence will last 5 minutes.

Thank you.*

*The moment of silence is not mandatory. We
are simply assisting those who want to participate in
sending a surge of prayers and good wishes to our
fellow Bronzers and their family.

Thoin, trying to type with a badly cut finger, stumbles in from the Lurkage...

Hi all. In pain, typing slowly (gee, think I'll actually manage to keep it within reason because of this? Hey! It could happen!)

Someone, not sure who, tried scrolling, no luck, was saying something about Cairo's posts, etc. from Friday. I'm one of the people (I'm sure there are others) who went back and downloaded all of Cairo's posts AND what everyone else posted TO her. If Penlind needs any of it, I have it all on my hard drive, and am happy to share.

Anybody got a gingerale and lime, or a Fifth, for a digitally-handicapped Thoin tonight?

NuPhalanx: We also had a moment of silence at 0900 (boardtime) today. It was quite successful. Scroll if you're interested. I chose this method of praying / sending good thoughts etc because it is the Quaker way...both Penlind and I are Quaker.
